Traditional Pet & Wildlife Portraits
I’ve worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for over 23 years, using both traditional and digital media.
However, ALL of the paintings you see here are traditional, hand-painted art. I work primarily in oil paints on wood panel, using YOUR photos for reference.
The past several years I shifted focus to painting animal portraits, working with a variety of clients, including volunteer donations to support local, no-kill animal shelters.
My Approach
Intuitive
I’ve always been an ‘animal person’ and have a natural love of wildlife and the Great Outdoors. Painting and art are merely an extension and expression of the joy and beauty I find when exploring the natural wonders of the world.
Collaborative
I work closely with each of my clients to get their pet’s likeness ‘just right’, while still embracing and perfecting my own personal style. Every portrait, every animal, has a story to tell. It isn’t just about a painting, it’s the spirit and personality of each subject I try and capture.
Expressive
Oil painting is, for me, a continued exploration of who I am as an artist and how I use what I see to express how I think and feel. For a client, this means interpreting their desires while continually growing the skills and techniques for self-expression.
